The Tone Correspondence
It was mentioned earlier that the 13 days of a tone cycle may be likened to a construction process. Within AA-tzolkin cosmology the 12th day of the tone cycle is coded by the key attributes of dedication, universalization and cooperation. The 12th tone is known as the crystal tone.
The 12th day of the tone cycle represents the day when all of the elements of a given tone cycle process come together or sync-up—that is to say crystallize. In other words the 12th tone signifies complete realization of the tone cycle process in question. We can use the analogy of a theater production to concretely demonstrate what is meant.
In the days prior to the opening night of a stage performance much preparation is involved, The actors rehearsed, the stage builders built the stage and assembled props etc. Opening night is when everything comes together (crystallizes) as a seamless, ripened whole and the performance is actualized.
December 21st, 2012 coincides with the 12th or crystal tone. The correspondence couldn’t be more perfect for on that day millions of people will come together (cooperate to crystallize) in order to dedicate their acknowledgement of, and universalize the meaning of December 21st, 2012.
Numerical Correspondence
12/21-2012 is composed of three 1’s, four 2’s and one 0. The 12th tone is a synchronic correspondence of the 1’s, 2’s and 12’s found in 12/21-2012. We will take a deeper look at this aspect in part 2 of section section 3. Please note that the number 2 will be the most commonly repeated number in all of the numerology involved. An aspect of Tzolkin cosmology predicts that based on the specifics of the day involved. More on this further down.
Archetypal Correspondence
Next we shall look at 12/21’s core archetypal theme—-the Blue Hand, but before I describe its meaning I want to explain why the AA-tzolkin is a testable model unlike the traditional tzolkin model. The AA-Tzolkin possesses a coherent systems architecture and it defines a set of testable relationships between the systems components. And they are the 4 colors, the 13 tones and the 20 archetypes of the AA-Tzolkin code and their specific attributes.
Each element has 3 key attributes. Other attributes may apply, but they are limited to 3 for the sake of simplicity and elegance. One must also note the archetypal symbol for other significances as well. The key attributes as used in these examples are in italics.
The Blue Hand of Healing, Wholeness and Reconciliation.
December 21st, 2012 coincides with AA-Tzolkin date kin 207 the Blue Hand archetype of knowing, healing and accomplishment. We are going to focus on the attribute of healing for it is the most telling attribute in our case. Healing can mean to restore health, to make whole and to reconcile. Each connotation applies to our case.
The Hand of Healing
Everything about the human-planetary condition is sick. Our soil, water and air are infected with thousands of pollutants. Consequently our food and bodies are also polluted. Our mental-emotional bodies are contaminated with every contradictory and absurd concept, infantile image and divisive idea produced by our governments, orthodox religions, Ad agencies and mainstream media polluters. There is infinitely more misinformation, triviality, contradiction and confusion floating about than there is universal truth, substance and coherence.
The Hand of Wholeness
There is nothing whole about the current human-planetary condition. We are fragmented in every possible way, but we are on the verge of collectively recognizing what will make us whole. We are gradually waking up to the fact that if we want a better world, we the 99% must take matters into our own hands and in joint effort. We are joining hands on scale never before seen.
The Occupy Movement is but a glimpse of what’s to come. Our wholeness as a singular human family stems from a shared set of values and needs. The key question for a viable Planetary Culture is to ask—-what do we have in common—-and build from there.
The meaning of 12/21-2012 is made all the more meaningful by the dire health of the human-planetary body-mind. On 12/21-2012 we will come together not to complain or criticize the obvious, but to catalyze a planetary scaled healing momentum to address in earnest every facet in need of reconciliation and restoration.
Calendrical Wholeness
The Long Count cycle consists of 13 baktun cycles of 144,000 days each. The Long Count has 5 place markers for the 5 cycles it keeps track of. And they are the day, the uinal cycle of 20 days, the tun of 360 days, the katun of 7200 days and the baktun cycle of 144,000 days. On 12/21-2012 the baktun count will read 13.0.0.0.0 and that means that 13 baktun cycles are complete. Zero also stands for wholeness and completion.
The completion of a cycle signifies wholeness. 1 day = 24 hrs; 1 year = 365 days; 1 Precessional cycle = 25,770.1 years; 1 Humanity = 7 billion individuals.
The Hand of Reconciliation
From the Dictionary: To reconcile means

1 the news reconciled us: reunite, bring (back) together (again), restore friendly relations between, make peace between;
2 her divorced parents have reconciled: settle one’s differences, make (one’s) peace, make up, kiss and make up, bury the hatchet, declare a truce.
3 he is trying to reconcile his religious beliefs with his career: make compatible, harmonize, square, make congruent, balance;
4 the quarrel was reconciled: settle, resolve, sort out, mend, remedy, heal, rectify; informal patch up.
Every single use of the word reconcile applies to our situation.
The Blue Hand equals 7 and 7 is the number of centering and centrality.
The Blue Hand is archetype number 7 in the 20 day archetypal sequence. Seven is one of two numbers that designate centrality within Tzolkin Cosmology, the other being the number 1. The number 7 is the middle number between 1 and 13. There are the 13 days of the tone cycle and there are 13 20-day cycles in a 260 day tzolkin cycle. Seven is the number that reconciles the Tzolkin’s 2 primary subcycles of 13 and 20. Seven being the difference between 13 and 20.
It was mentioned much earlier that “this article is concerned foremost with the aspect of worldrenewing and to a slightly lesser degree the aspect of worldcentering”. While this article may indeed emphasize the aspect of worldrenewing it is the aspect of worldcentering that is most responsible for 12/21-2012.
According to the work of John Major Jenkin’s and David Carrasco the ancient Mesoamericans were consumed with the quest to discover the center of the heavens. That quest led the Maya to discover the mother of all centers—-the galactic center. The act of coming together on 12/21-2012 is all about centering around a common set of values, themes and goals.
Numerical Correspondence of the AA-Tzolkin date
12/21-2012 coincides with AA-Ttzolkin date 207. Again we have the number 2, an 0 and the number 7. Twenty one is divisible by 7. We will take a deeper look at the numerical aspect further down.
The Guiding Blue Storm of Catalyzation
Earlier I wrote “to catalyze a planetary scaled healing momentum to address in earnest every critical facet of the Human-Planetary condition in need of reconciliation and restoration”.
According to Tzolkin cosmology the events, moods and themes of each day arise from a set of archetypes or theme complex—-themeplex for short. A total of 5 archetypes constitute the themeplex. We’ve thus far covered what is known as the central or core archetype of the day for 12/21-2012. There is one other facet to 12/21-2012’s themeplex that should be discussed—its known as the guide of the day.
The archetypal guide on 12/21-2012 is the Blue Storm of energy, catalyzation and self-generation. Will we not catalyze and self-generate on a scale never before seen the elements needed to right the wrongs and heal the injuries perpetrated by the Current World System. I’m sure that many of you can feel the “energy” of 2012 from here. Just imagine what it will be like on 12/21-2012.
The Oracle of the Day.
When the 6 key attributes of the archetype and tone are combined a poem of sorts emerges. Each day of the AA-Tzolkin has its oracle and each one is known as the oracle of the day. They were fashioned by Jose Arguelles when he presented his more universalized version of the Mesoamerican tzolkin in his Dreamspell publication of 1991.
The oracle of the day provides us with a concise summary of the days foremost thematics. Aside from including the attributes of the tone and kin of the day it also includes the days guiding archetype. The oracle of 12/21-2012 or kin 207 the Blue 12/Crystal Hand is as follows.

Each day of the solar cycle is governed by a family of 4 tzolkin archetypes. The 105 day difference between the 365 solar cycle and the 260 day tzolkin cycle generates certain peculiarities. As the cycles interlace only 4 of the tzolkin’s 20 archetypes will ever fall on a given solar day.
For example we know that D21-2012 will coincide with AA-Tzolkin date 207 the Blue 12 Hand. This article was published on 12/21-2011 or tzolkin date kin 102 the White 11 Wind. Last year 12/21-2010 coincided with tzolkin date kin 257 the Red 10 Earth. December 21st 2013 will coincide with tzolkin date kin 52 the Yellow 13 Human.
Those 4 archetype and only those 4 will ever fall on December 21st in a regular 4 year cyclical pattern of Red Earth, White Wind, Blue Hand and Yellow Human and the cycle starts anew the following year.
Those 4 archetypes are known as archetypal family number two (AFN-2) and they may be looked at as the 4 facets of a single macro-archetype that is better defined when we take into account the key attributes of each archetypal family member.
It can be said that every member of AFN-2 is always present when any of its members is the core archetype of the day, but it is the tzolkin sequence that determines which facet will be most prominent as it cycles through each year. Take for example a human being’s range of expression.
On certain days we might be happy and on others sad. At times we express our loving side at at others our angry side. Same human being many faces (facets).
Archetypal Family Number 2 and their Attributes
- The Red Earth of evolution, synchronicity and navigation.
- The White Wind of communication, spirit and breath.
- The Blue Hand of knowing, healing and accomplishment.
- The Yellow Human of influence, wisdom and free will.
As you can see every attribute of AFN-2 is indeed present in the significance of 12/21-2012 The next example will highlight three telling aspects of AFN-2 to further reinforce the accuracy of the AA-Tzolkin.
AFN-2 is Characterized by Wholeness.
There are a total of 5 archetypal families within AA-Tzolkin cosmology and I have briefly mentioned the themeplex. The themeplex is arrived via a numerological formula. I won’t get into the details of that, but I have a reference for the curious here.
AFN-2 is unique among all the other AFN’s in that it is the only AFN in which all 4 member always appear together in the themeplex. The other AFN’s are usually missing one or two of its members, so that means that AFN-2 is an exemplar of wholeness.
AFN-2 is characterized by what I call overt and repetitive synchronicities. If you are familiar with the authors work on the Art and Science Synchronicity then you know that it is based entirely on the AA-Tzolkin cycle code and that there are many types of synchronicity.
Overt synchronicity refers to the obvious synchronicities that we all capture from time to time and that is why I refer to them as overt for we can’t help, but notice them. They are however only a minute fraction of the countless synchronicities happening every day. The world of covert or hidden synchronicities is revealed by the AA-Tzolkin code.
Repetitive synchronicity is a type of overt synchronicity and its signature is the repetitive appearance and/or sounding of an image, number, concept or word over the course of a day or days. Overt and repetitive synchroncities are most common when members of archetypal family number 2 are present in the day’s and/or the tone cycle themeplex.

Tzolkin cosmology is characterized by nested structures. The presence of the Red Earth means that its flipside or analog is also present as in the two sides of the same coin. The analog or flipside of the Red Earth is the White Wind. The White Wind is the White member of AFN-2. Out of the 5 archetypal number families, AFN-2 is the only family in which every member is present as described.
